2020.

new year, plants, wood

First off I want to say Happy New Year to all of my readers! 2020 is the beginning of a new decade and I think everyone and their moms are ready for it. However, I want to start my first post of the year with a little bit of realness. The first day of every new year seems to swallow me up whole. I get consumed in my head with thoughts of doubt and unassuredness. What will the next year bring? Why didn’t I accomplish more in the past year? My birthday is coming up [February]… another year older and definitely not another year wiser.

While everyone seems to move forward with creating resolutions for themselves, I really use this time to more so reflect (and stress) out about how quickly the year went by and how much I didn’t accomplish. Partially I think it has to do with the fact that I am a blogger on the side and work full time managing social media accounts for a company. If you can imagine that means that I am consistently consuming content and comparing content and thinking about how to create better content. All of this ultimately made me take the break

All of this ultimately made me take the break from blogging. (If you didn’t notice, I started breaking right around September in both my blog, but also on my Instagram.)

Now some of you may be wondering why I took the break and I think all in all i Justg needed a reset. I spent a lot of time stressing about posting content and keeping up with my blog that I realized the fun was completely being sucked out of it and it felt more like a chore and that was my never my intention. I also felt like with the stress of posting made me less diligent about posting good content. Content that I was exited to post. Instead I would throw something up just to call it done. So I took a breather. I took time to think about what I wanted to do next with my blog. What content inspired me, what I wanted it to become, and how I was going to go about managing the time to put into it.

And I have come to one conclusion: that nothing feels good when it’s forced. I don’t want to put a Instagram post out just to battle the algorithm and gain a few followers. I want to feel like I put content out that can help someone or give someone a pro tip about something I learned. Now I am well aware that I am not serving the Earth with some amazing humanitarian work. But I think in a space that can be consumed by negativity and can bring people down or feel worse about themselves, I want to shed a light of some realness, compassion and lighthearteness. Well all need a little balance of these things and I want my channel to speak more to that.

I am hoping that this year sheds some light on what I want to do and where I want to go next. While I have some ideas, there is nothing concrete laid out yet so I think that is giving me a bit of uncertainty. Being only two years away from 30 seems monumental! But I am trying to breathe and take things day by day.

This post was a bit of a ramble, but I wanted to start the year with a bit of soul searching and an explanation for why I was gone and how I will be approaching the blog. Some weeks I may decide not to post and others I may post twice. It will be all about how I am feeling and how creative I feel like being. I know inconsistency sucks, but I am hoping that in this way I will be able to provide better and more thoughtful content for you all.

Until next time,

N.
