What’s Trending: NYFW F/W 2018

February 15, 2018

Another NYFW down, another post about the trends I’m seeing. I was really excited about the trends in this fashion week, because a lot of them were right up my alley and F/W is always my favorite season to dress for. For the people who didn’t have time to attend the shows or watch the coverage, I am here for you with a recap of all of the trends I picked up on. Think of it like the highlights of things to watch out for in the next cold season.

Animal Print

Personally, I am a fan of animal print when it revolves around leopard. However, this fashion week brought out all of the animal print in HUGE ways. Don’t think subtle touches here and there. Think zebra leggings, leopard dresses, and shirts with huge spots. I am loving the understated look of Carolina Herrera’s cotton shirt and Bottega Veneta’s tiger coat.

Touches of Texture

Faux fur will never go out of style, but this fashion week brought about less traditional  fur and more textured “teddy bear” options in a variety of colors. I love anything soft and fuzzy, because it just feels so cozy. When the teddy material wasn’t being used, texture in all shapes and sizes was. Another Carolina Herrara beauty is this shimmery skirt that looks like tinsel.

Shine, Baby, Shine

Shiny outfits are here to stay and fabrics such as lamé and jacquard are being used widely from pants to tops. I love a good piece of something sparkly, especially when it comes to nighttime outfits. The pieces I saw on the runways are more refined than the edgier pieces  I’ve seen in the past. I am totally digging the  Sally LaPointe tailored pants!
