It’s no surprise that fireplaces are a key selling point for homes. They add visual interest and create a sense of warmth. However, many people feel intimidated by the mantel space above a fireplace. To decorate or not to decorate, that is the question. I’m here to show you that decorating a mantel is not only fun, but essential for a well styled home.
Don’t Forget the Inside
A lot of people tend to focus only on the outside of a fireplace, but if you want to accomplish a more minimalist look, take a look inside as well. Adding logs or candles inside the hub will give the fireplace a unique feel. This only works for fireplaces that are going to be used infrequently and also have a large enough space inside for accessories.

Decorate with Frames
Who says frames have to only hang on a wall? Propping and stacking simple frames onto a fireplace adds a down-to-earth vibe and it looks GORGEOUS. Try mixing and matching the frame bases or artwork to add more visual interest. Keep in mind that if you are stacking frames without nailing them to something, you will need to have a wider mantle to accommodate for that. Don’t want to create a hazard for yourself!

Mirrors are Everything
If you are looking for a simple way to decorate your mantle without thinking too much about it, go for a mirror. A mirror is a staple item for making rooms look bigger and adding light. Adding it above a fireplace will add to the focus to the room and will create a nice balance with the fireplace. For a touch of color, try adding a plant next to the fireplace or on the mantle to top everything off. It will look super fresh!
